We had the great pleasure of interviewing the following day of Marsha’s interview at the Crown Towers in Melbourne, Kenna James, very affable and with a great sense of humour to boot. If you last until the end you will hear us singing Abba’s “The Winner Takes It All”.
Talented columnist, poker player, commentator, tournament organiser and over 40 final tables under his belt and millions in prize money, Kenna is rightfully regarded as one of the top poker players in the world today.
Texas Calculatem is the leading poker game calculator and in this video I explore it’s amazing features. Over 30,000 players have improved their game and made money using this remarkable piece of software. Find out more at PokerAnalyzer.com
High Stakes Poker
High stakes poker featuring Daniel Negreanu, Doyle Brunson, Gus Hansen, Barry Greenstein and Antonio Asfandari at The Palms in Las Vegas. This is one great poker video with some amusing banter at the table and I have had the pleasure of meeting all of these great poker players while collecting interviews for my Poker Podcast site. I am not at a level to play any of them though!
Free Strip Poker
A little free fun strip poker to lighten the day! Nothing like getting chicks nude in a friendly strip poker game to cheer a chap up! If you do play this free online strip poker game at Maniac Poker be warned some of the graphics are reasonably explicit! :):)
Sorry about the delay between podcasts, but sometimes life throws you a bender. Back soon with more concentrating on some strategy and tips as well as an interview I did with Greg Raymer at the Aussie Millions in Melbourne!
Max interviews Robert, WSOP bracelet winner, inventor and introducer of Omaha to the poker world, holder of numerous All Round Best Player awards and hair salon owner.
With several decades of poker under his belt Robert Turner is one of the great icons of the poker scene.
On this episode Max interviews Jay Moriarty, prolific comedy screen writer, board game designer and poker player. They discuss the game and the well loved Aces and Eight’s poker tourney.
I also nearly pee my pants, tell a little story about Chris Ferguson and criticise the PPA’s ad copy writer (who nearly caused me to pee my pants) and why you should join the Assoc. of Players, Casinos and Webmasters, you can view the excellent weekly APCW video here: http://www.pokeranalysis.com/viewtopic.php?t=30346
Jay’s achievements include having written and produced the sitcoms All In The Family , The Bonnie Hunt Show, The Jeffersons , Dear John , Cosby, and Duckman. He has developed series and written pilots for networks and studios including NBC, CBS, ABC, Warner Bros., Columbia, Paramount, Spelling Entertainment, and NBC Productions.
This show also includes the “F” word. I counln’t help it, I am Australian and it is the most used word in our vocabulary.
I first met Marsha at the WSOP and must admit that until I met her I didn’t realise she was an expatriate Aussie, having moved to the US more than 30 years ago! To her credit she has retained a bit of her accent, us Aussies tend to lose them real fast!
We did this interview in her room at the Crown Towers and also had the pleasure of meeting husband Kenna James who will be interviewed in an upcoming podcast!
Among the thronging crowd at the 2007 Aussie Millions a reptillian apparel adorned entity popped his head up and said a loud “G’day”…it was Billy. So, we dragged him off to a quietish (well, relevant to the surroundings anyway) corner for a quick interview!
Pokerbok echoes Mark’s South African origins and will be a familar name to many, if not all, online players. His fearlessness is legendary and few achieve such a rapid rise to stardom. With an 8th place finish in the 2006 Aussie Millions Main Event followed quickly by some major cashes and capped by a WSOP bracelet in the $2000 NLHE event at the 2006 WSOP, Mark proved to one and all he was no flash in the pan.
I arrived at the Crown at 1am bleary eyed and for some reason they confused my surname with Elizabeth and I am convinced they were going to put me in Shannon’s room! I woke my wife Ellen up the next morning with a declaration of “Hey! Where’s Shannon Elizabeth and how in hell did you get here!”
I love living life on the edge.
The start of the main event was electric with huge crowds coming to see the celebrity players they had only ever seen on tv. We had dinner with Grinder’s big brother Robert and his lovely partner Elise and had some great laughs. Michael was unable to make the trip to OZ, too difficult with a young family. Look out for my interview with Robert!
Jack was recently appointed WSOP tourney director for an interesting chat on the future direction of the WSOP in this exclusive interview! Jack has, among other things, been poker room manager at the Horseshoe in Tunica and is now director of the World Series Circuit events and of Harrah’s poker operations as well as his new role. His enthusiasm for poker and it’s future are refreshingly insightful, I am sure you will enjoy it.
A collection of musings on some current (and not so current) events including the Brandi Hawbacker vs Capt Tom saga, the Party Poker rumour, Daniel N and his suitcase of cash that interested the FBI, the upcoming Aussie Millions,Kathy Liebert and more…
Max caught up with Bernard Lee, noted columnist and 13th place finisher at the 2005 WSOP Main Event for a very interesting interview! Aside from poker, Bernard also spent 3 years at Julliard tickling the ivories! I am sure 2007 will propel this great and dedicated player into the poker stratosphere.
Well the silly season is upon us well and truly and I put together this show on Boxing Day. I have released a browser toolbar for IE and Firefox that is chock full of goodies for the poker player and explain it in more detail on the show and you can grab this useful freebie from http://pokeranalysis.ourtoolbar.com. Absolutely spam and adware free!
I talk about the worlds first poker porn movie, Ellen and I visited a psychic that was pretty cool. Looking foward to the Aussie Millions in a few weeks and maybe Ellen will win big! Enjoy!
Barbara has become a good friend of ours since meeting a couple of years ago. With a list of poker achievements as long as your arm she is very modest about them. One thing is in no doubt, she strikes fear into many pro’s hearts! We have her 3/4’s convinced to visit us Down Under and I can’t wait!
We first met George trip before last to the US and were introduced by Barbara Enright at the Bicycle in LA. George has produced some awesome ceramic art, some commissioned as trophies for various poker tournaments. We visited his fantastic Marina Del Ray studio and saw him again this year at the WSOP. Max inteviewed him for us and he talks poker and art. George’s work can be seen on his website www.georgemarlowe.com
Assorted audio bytes reminiscing on the WSOP trip to Vegas. You can do a lot in Vegas in 4 weeks, get run down By Doyle Brunson the F1 Gopher World Champion wannabe, listen to multiple bad beats in the bathroom and not get a decent cup of tea for a whole month. I got so upset over the tea I swore in this podcast earning myself an iTunes explicit tag for my efforts.
Max interviewed Nolan at the 2006 WSOP and talks about some of the logistics involved in the biggest poker event ever and about his book One Of A Kind, considered by many including myself, to be the definitive work on the life of Stuey Unger. I had the pleasure of meeting Nolan and witnessing first hand the amount of work involved in just the media management at the WSOP. You can get a copy of One Of A Kind here for only $16.50 via Amazon
If only it were a restaurant bill. Unfortunately the move to introduce the Internet Gambling Bill has gathered some momentum and so affects every online poker player and many have yet to realise it.
While still at the WSOP I talked to several pro players who refused to comment on the issue. Why? They are scared and off the record I was told by several that they had emptied online poker accounts. I had not anticipated this level of fear and ignorance and this was the most difficult podcast I have produced to date.
I managed to get interviews with Annie Duke, Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer and Poker Players Alliance President Michael Bolcerek to try and put some perspective on the issue. I admire their courage enormously.
In Australia we already have had a Bill in place for years now, making online play illegal and US legislators have looked closely at it. We got suckered mightily and the Aussie public is still almost completely ignorant of it’s existence.
This is my small attempt at reducing apathy and public ignorance on an important issue. Please let others know about this podcast.
Casey led the fight to ban smoking in poker rooms, has more cashins than anyone else on the WPT circuit and is heavily involved with the World Poker Association www.wpapoker.com
Maxwell did this interview at the WSOP and I had the pleasure of meeting Casey personally and what a pleasure it was. Thank you Casey!
In our second interview conducted by Max Shapiro, he interviews Vince Burgio, pro poker player and new author. Vince is a regular at seminars and is a great subject and as nice a person as you would ever meet. Be sure to check out his website www.pokervince.com
